About Takt

That is exactly why Takt exists. So that it stops being unusual for a woman to understand her own cycle — that is the whole reason.

Why we are not there yet: the usual route asks for your most intimate entries first — given in good faith, typed in somewhere, and you do not know what happens to them. At the end there is a number you have to trust without understanding it or being able to judge it for yourself. Nothing was explained to you, nothing was shown to you. That creates uncertainty, and it creates dependence.

That is what we want to turn around. We tell you why you can enter what you enter, what it is used for, how it feeds into the calculation, what the number at the end actually says and how to weigh it. We put everything out in the open, and you can follow all of it yourself. And you learn to read your own rhythm. That gives you the freedom to work with it, and the confidence to decide for yourself what you use and how.

So we went a different way in several places than is usual, to make sure our words are matched by how the thing is actually built.

1. So you enter everything — and feel good about it

   Takt has no server. Not switched off — never built in: there is no database you appear in, and so there is none that can be sold, breached or demanded. What you find out about yourself stays with you.

2. So you use it gladly and easily, every day

   We thought longer about that one daily action than about any feature: it should cost you as little as possible. And it carries more than it looks like — every gap makes the forecast less precise, every entry makes it better. Something you do every day should be as simple, as personal and as pleasant as it can be. Often it is small things like a symbol, sometimes structural ones like getting there in few taps, but all of it played through hundreds of times ourselves, to make using Takt as pleasant and as fluid as we could.

3. And so you understand the number

   And here is the functional heart of Takt. At every step, at every window, we kept working until it was right for the woman using it.

We built the engine ourselves, because no existing one was good and current enough. We worked our way through the current state of cycle research and built it with the most modern tools available for it today. None of it came about carelessly — and for every number you can look up what it rests on.

Then we had to weigh things up: if we put all the information on one screen at once, we overload it, and an overloaded app is not one you gladly open in the morning. But we want to show you everything. So: we bring you both, just not all at once — the surface stays readable, pleasant and calm, the finer detail is one tap away. Never pushed on you, always within reach.

We built Takt for ourselves first, and then saw what we actually had — and what women out there are still using. And then it was clear: we are bringing Takt out. For the women who use it, we then built the structure that lets us stay who we are: independent, honest, transparent. Different.

There is no investor we owe growth to, and no advertiser we could show you to. Nobody talks us into anything, and nobody stands to gain from passing you on. Nobody buys your data, because nobody pays us for it — and because your data stays on your device.
